 Our Journeyman Shop Technician responsibilities include:

  • Correctly assessing needed repairs of Class 8 heavy duty trucks and trailers.
  • Communicating with parts department to obtain materials for needed repairs.
  • Completes all needed and requested repairs to include but not limited to diagnose, trouble shoot, over haul, repair, replace engines, transmission, differential, electronics controls, electrical systems, air conditioner, both R12 and 134A charging system, starting system, clutch assembly, brakes, steering components and any other items on class 5 through 8 trucks.
  • A/C knowledge.
  • Ability to monitor own work for quality and efficiency.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to communicate with Service Advisor on repairs and additional repairs.
Skills Required:
  • Prior Experience of at least three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Quality – demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Planning/Organizing – uses time efficiently.

SUMMARY: Develops new Reliance Trailer business in assigned Northern California territory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prospects for new customers.
• Maintains relationships with existing customers.
• Is knowledgeable in the area of truck and trailer specifications.
• Properly completes paperwork associated with a trailer sales transactions.
• Obtains Sales Director’s approval on all trailer deals.
• Coordinates service work such as add ons and/or repairs with the service department using the proper service procedure.
• Coordinates with the Finance and Insurance Departments providing accurate information and paperwork to assist in obtaining customer financing and insurances.
• Attends training seminars when possible.
• Acts as a public relations liaison for the dealership.
• Maintains professional demeanor and appearance.
• Coordinates with supervisor and is available for required meetings and other appointed times.

QUALIFICATIONS: The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. It is required that the individual is accurate with good time management and organizational skills. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. • 5 years Sales experience. Industry experience preferred.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED). College degree preferred.
• Self-motivated with drive to prospect, develop new markets and expand sales to existing accounts.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Basic computer literacy or the ability and willingness to learn systems.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Excellent customer service, communication and negotiating skills.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to obtain the license within 90-days of hire.
• Ability to travel with some occassional overnight trips.
